We give a review of the latest advancements in four-terminal (4T) perovskite tandem solar cells (TSCs), emphasizing four pertinent configurations: perovskite-silicon (PVK/Si), perovskite-perovskite (PVK/PVK), perovskite-Cu (In,Ga)Se 2 (PVK/CIGS), and perovskite-organic (PVK/organic), as well as other emerging 4T perovskite TSCs.
“The efficiency achieved herein is among the highest values for 4-T PSC/CIGS tandem solar cells reported earlier,” the research team emphasized, noting that the result was mainly attributable to the high efficiency of the top perovskite cell and the high bifaciality factor of 92% achieved by its semi-transparent IZO electrode.
The champion 4T perovskite/CIGS tandem solar cell in case of I:OH as front TCO exhibits a calculated PCE of 27.3%, with 18.5% stemming from the top semitransparent PSC and 8.8% derived from the filtered CIGS bottom device.
The cells comprised a metal grid and an anti-reflective MgF 2 coating on top, the designated area was 50 mm 2 (defined by mechanical scribing). The perovskite and c- Si solar cells were characterized using a class AAA Newport solar simulator (xenon lamp).
