The type of solar glass directly influences the amount of solar radiation that is being transmitted. To ensure high solar energy transmittance, glass with low iron oxide is typically used in solar panel manufacturing. Solar panels are made of tempered glass, which is sometimes called toughened glass.

Photovoltaic glass is a special type of glass that utilizes solar radiation to generate electricity by laminating into solar cells, and has relevant current extraction devices and cables. The glass used in photovoltaic power generation is not ordinary glass, but TCO conductive glass.

Solar Glass is one of the crucial barriers of traditional solar panels protecting solar cells against harmful externalities, such as water, vapor and dirt.

The G/G construction contains a sheet of glass on each side of the PV module, replacing the opaque polymer backsheet traditionally used in conventional glass/backsheet (G/B) modules (figure 1) [7, 8]. The glass provides better mechanical support and improved moisture impermeability over polymer backsheets .

This solar power is being generated by converting sunlight into electricity through Photovoltaics (PV) which is also called as solar cells. Solar cells comprise of many parts from which tempered glass is the one whose high strength acts as a shield for the solar modules by protecting them from mechanical loads and extreme weather conditions.

Both the strength and safety are important for the installation of solar panels. Solar glass, as the front sheet of a pv module, needs to provide long-term protection against the elements. Glass is used because it's well known for its durability, even though it has disadvantages as well.
