Some Pacific island countries and territories do follow those standards. These standards are often updated and amended so the latest version should always be applied. Some Pacific Islands Utilities are also introducing their own guidelines and requirements that must be followed when installing grid connected PV systems in those countries.
Initial indications show that, in general, photovoltaic (PV) inverters are able to fulfil both the static and the dynamic requirements. Besides the new requirements of the guideline, an extensive certification process for DER units and plants has also been introduced.
Micro inverter and ac module systems typically operate at a PV array maximum voltage less then 120V dc and therefore are not required to have an earth (ground fault) indication, although it is recommended that if the system has that capability it should be installed. (Check the NEC if in a country following that standard)
In Germany, since January 2009 the new BDEW guideline for interconnection of DER units to the MV network has been in force. From the beginning of August 2011, advanced interconnection requirements for the LV networks also come into operation.
