Abstract: The real and reactive power control for Inverter interfaced distributed energy resource (DER) based on sliding-mode control (SMC) strategy has been prposed for the grid-integrated microgrid. The proposed control strategy furnishes a very fast and stable control operation on the terminal voltage and frequency of DER units.
When the microgrid is off-grid, due to the lack of the support of the large power supply system, a large frequency change is caused. Under the conventional control strategy, the maximum frequency is increased to 52.08 Hz, while under the control strategy with power feedback, the maximum frequency is only 51.7 Hz.
Structure and modeling of AC microgrids The microgrid composed of distributed power sources, energy storage devices, loads and monitoring and protection devices can realize two operation modes of grid connection and islanding, and has a self-healing function in the islanding mode.
Especially in the island mode, it should be able to automatically establish and stabilize the frequency and voltage of the system. During grid-connected operation, the control strategy must change the actual power delivered to the grid according to the needs of the grid and combined with the needs of the load to ensure power dynamic equilibrium.
Comparing the node voltage changes when the microgrid is off-grid, the maximum voltage fluctuation of the conventional strategy is 0.517 kV. The effect of the control strategy proposed in this paper is significantly improved, and the maximum voltage fluctuation is only 0.253 kV. The same is true for the voltage when connected to the grid.
Additionally, the coupling between active and reactive power can negatively impact microgrids' dynamic performance and stability. To solve these problems, this paper introduces a unified dynamic power coupling (UDC) model. This model's active power control loop can be tailored to meet diverse requirements.
