In the field of battery recycling, the electrolyte of all-vanadium liquid flow can achieve better recycling, which is better than other technical routes, such as lithium batteries, sodium-sulfur batteries and lead-carbon batteries.
The kWh cost of batteries (full life cycle) is now below 0.3 RMB/kWh. In terms of safety, flow batteries will not catch fire and explode like lithium batteries. On another level, flow batteries are not so safe, especially the most widely used all-vanadium flow batteries.
Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) have emerged as a promising alternative to lithium-ion batteries for sustainable energy storage. Its widespread availability and lower cost make it an attractive option for future energy storage solutions.
Sodium-ion batteries are increasingly developed due to their abundant sources and lower price. Their energy storage mechanism is almost identical to that of lithium-ion batteries, making them a viable reference . Fig. 2 shows the working mechanism of sodium-ion batteries.
Due to the lower charge density and dissociation energy of sodium salts compared to lithium salts, the solubility of SEI components formed in Na-ion batteries generally surpasses that in Li-ion batteries, particularly in aqueous solutions.
